How to Wash Your Hair

1. What’s the best shampoo and conditioner for me?

First of all you have to choose a shampoo and a conditioner that are made for your hair’s type.

If your hair is dry, choose moisturizing products that are made for damaged and dry hair. If your hair is colored, opt for color-safe formulas. Fine hair is better washed with a volumizing shampoo. Those who have already don Keratin better use a sulfate free shampoo.

Back to conditioner, it is exactly the same as shampoo, so it is better to buy your shampoo and conditioner together.

2. First detangle your hair

You detangle your hair before showering so you don’t have to do it when your hair is wet – it is very stressing for your hair.

Choose a quality brush and start detangling from the ends back to the roots. Detangling your hair helps blood flow and even makes you relax.

3. Before shampoo

Apply vegetarian oil like almond oil, argon oil and coconut oil 2 hours before shower it helps to moisturize your ends’ splits and nourish your hair. You can skip the conditioner if you use one of these oils.

4- Start by rinsing

Hair should be thoroughly wet before you add your shampoo. The water should be warm so as the cuticle opens up to clean all the oils and dirt and allow the hair to absorb the conditioner’s oils.

5- Long hair means conditioner first

Yes, it really works. If your hair is beneath the shoulders, run a small amount of conditioner through your ends before every shampoo to protect them from drying out and getting damaged by making it smoother and brighter. The thing about conditioner is that it fills any hole in the cuticle in order to have a healthier hair.

6- Lather up your scalp

You don’t need to shampoo from scalp to ends; generally the hair closest to scalp is the oiliest, while the ends are fragile and driest, you only need a small amount of shampoo to clean up your hair, do not use more than it’s needed.

7- Be gentle!

Do not go hard on your hair; try to wash it like you’re showering a baby – slowly and carefully.

Start to lather at the roots with your finger tips not your nails in slow vertical movements and small pressure; it will increase blood flow and stimulate hair growth. Then move the lather into your ends by a straight motion – Never scrub your ends like your washing your laundry it will surely break it.

8- Wash only once

Even though the shampoos instructions say to repeat, you don’t have to do so. If your hair lathers up from the first shampoo, then it’s okay. Unless your hair is extremely dirty and oily then you’ll have to add one more lather.

9- Add conditioner

After rinsing thoroughly your hair and getting rid of all the chemicals in your hair squeeze the water out of your hair then apply your favorite conditioner from the mid-length to the tips. Don’t put it at the roots you already have the natural oil from your scalp; it’s the ends that are dry and fragile.

Take your hair up and finish showering, the longer the conditioner stays the best it is for your hair to absorb it. Finish with the last rinse.

10- A cold water rinse

As it is known cold water shuts the cuticle, gives the hair brightness and shine and avoids hair loss.

11- How many times you wash your hair per week?

Actually it depends on your hair’s type. If you’re hair is more likely to be dry you can wash it once to twice a week. But, if it is oily you better wash it three times per week.

To sum up

This new method of washing your hair may seem too long and takes you more time than usual, but trust me this is the perfect and easiest way to get a healthy, shiny and good looking hair.
